DETROIT NEWS
April 3, 2000NCR and Governor Barnes Break Ground on Child Care Facility
Company Press Release

NCR Corporation (NYSE: NCR - news) broke ground on its on-site child care facility today with the help of Governor Roy E. Barnes, whose corporate child care tax credit bill gives incentives to companies that make on-site child care available to their employees. NCR, whose Retail Solutions Group is headquartered in Duluth, Georgia, is one of the first companies in the state to break ground on such a facility since the governor signed the bill in 1999.

"NCR has shown that it understands how important -- and how difficult -- it is for working parents to spend time with their children today, and how expensive day care has become for working families,'' said Governor Barnes. ``By building this center, NCR is giving its employees access to high quality, affordable day care, that is on site and close enough for a coffee-break visit."

The center is being built at NCR's facility in Duluth, which, after extensive renovations, will soon be the primary workplace for more than 1,100 employees. The Family Care Center will accommodate about 110 children, and will offer primary care, backup care and summer programs to children aged six weeks to 12 years.

"NCR understands that balancing work and home life is one of the biggest challenges employees face," said Tony Fano, NCR's Senior Vice President, Retail Solutions Group. "Our investment in the Family Care Center is one of the many ways NCR is helping our people achieve this balance."

The NCR Family Care Center will be managed and operated by Bright Horizons Family Solutions, the nation's leading provider of employer-sponsored child care and early childhood education. NCR has contracted Kajima, one of the largest development and design/build firms in the U.S., to manage the design and construction of the facility.
